2010 Chase for the Sprint Cup:Kobalt Tools 500November 09, 2010 by Marc Jerbs

On Sunday, NASCAR's Chase for the Sprint Cup series moves to Arizona for the Kobalt Tools 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. This famous tri-oval track was built in 1964. It has a seating capacity of 76,800, which will be filled up to the rafters this coming weekend.

Denny Hamlin is the new leader in the standings after his impressive win at the AAA Texas 500 last week. He has a 33 points lead over 4-time champion Jimmie Johnson. With two races left, this would be a neck-to-neck battle between Hamlin, Johnson and third place Kevin Harvick who is 59 points behind the overall leader.

Jimmie Johnson has a solid record in races held at the Phoenix International Raceway. He has a career record of 4 wins, 9 top 5 finishes and 12 top 10 finishes. Meanwhile, Denny Hamlin is still on a mission to get his first win at the track. Without a single win, he did produced 5 top 5 finishes and 6 top 10 finishes at Phoenix.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed Denny Hamlin as the favorite to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title. With a 33-point lead, he's on track to beat Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick. His team needs to get the correct car set up for Hamlin and let his chasers do the hard work. But no lead is safe; Hamlin must be careful on the track and stay away from major crashes.
