MLB Primetime Match:
Yankees vs. RangersAugust 10, 2009 by Marc Jerbs

On Tuesday night, the Texas Rangers hosts the defending champions NY Yankees at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. It would be a two-game series match between the two postseason contenders.

The Rangers will begin a 12-game series against their AL East opponents. They are just 9-16 against AL East teams this season. Winning this all important series matches against their AL East opponents will further strengthen their grip in their AL West lead against the Oakland Athletics.

Rangers' pitcher CJ Wilson will be the man on the mound. He hopes to rebound from his last outing against the Mariners. He lasted only three innings after he gave up 4 runs on six hits and issued 4 walks. Against the Yankees, he fares much better. He's 3-1 with a 3.08 ERA in four starts against the Bronx Bombers.

The Yankees are coming of a split series against archrival Boston Red Sox. They still lead the AL East but the Rays are just 1.5 games behind while the Red Sox still 6 games behind. The Yankees are still holding their guard to maintain their lead as the regular is near the homestretch.

The Yankees field AJ Burnett on the mound. He's pitching on a seven day rest after being scratched in his last start due to a nagging back. Burnett hopes to rebound from his awful performance against the Blue Jays.

The baseball handicappers have installed the Texas Rangers and pitcher CJ Wilson as the favorites to beat the NY Yankees and AJ Burnett.
