2011 European Tour:
Dubai Desert ClassicFebruary 09, 2011 by Marc Jerbs

On Thursday, the prestigious Emirates Golf Club will host the Dubai Desert Classic. This European Tour event is considered as a top notch tournament with the best golf players in the world playing in a world class golf course. Most players would be from Europe but American players are all set to join the fray.

The first two rounds of this tournament will draw a lot of attention in the first 36-holes of play. The top 3 in the world led by Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer and Tiger Woods are paired with each other. Expect the avid golf fans to watch the trio strut their wares with each other as they jostle for position in the leaderboard.

Miguel Jimenez won last year's tournament after beating Lee Westwood in the playoffs. Both players finished the tournament with identical 11-under par 277 with Jimenez clinching the victory in an extra hole.

The sportsbook handicappers have placed both Martin Kaymer and Tiger Woods as the frontrunners to win the Dubai Desert Classic. However, only one player could win this event and Rory McIlroy has the chance to win this one if both Woods and Kaymer drop their game a notch.
