2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series:Jeff Byrd 500March 15, 2009 by Marc Jerbs

After a week of hiatus, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series comes to life again for the Jeff Byrd 500 this Sunday at the Bristol Motor Speedway.

The .533-mile concrete oval track also celebrates its 50th "Golden" Anniversary this year. The race distance will cover 500 laps which is equivalent to 266.5 miles of high-speed racing.

Carl Edwards secured his first win of the season after Tony Stewart was penalized during the race.

It was a huge win for Edwards as he erases his early season failures. It was his 19th career victory and his third win in the last five races since November last year.

Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch are tied for 1st place in the driver's standing. The rest of the drivers included in the Top 10 are: Carl Edwards, Juan Pablo Montoya, Ryan Newman, Paul Menard, Martin Truex Jr., Denny Hamlin, AJ Allmendinger and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed Kyle Busch as the favorite to win the Jeff Bryd 500 this Sunday.

Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin would be his closest challengers in this race.
