2012 NFL Season BeginsSeptember 04, 2012 by Mark Jerbs

On Wednesday, the 2012 NFL season formally begins with an opening match between the defending SuperBowl champion New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys. Kick off is 8:30PM at the MetLife Stadium.

The Giants were the first team with a 9-7 record in the regular season and went on to win the SuperBowl last year. They started poorly but closeout with six straight wins to capture their 4th SuperBowl title.

On the other hand, the Cowboys were leading the NFC East but can't seem to win over top notch NFL teams and were successfully booted out by the Giants for the NFC East title.

No love is lost between these two rivals. The Cowboys were the favorites to win the NFC East but the Giants spoiled their plans. Dallas could lessen the pain if they manage to win against the Giants in the opening game of the 2012 NFL season.

The rest of the NFL teams will open their season on Sunday, September 9. Notable matches on this day are New England Patriots at Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers at Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers at Denver Broncos.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed the NY Giants as a 4-point favorite to beat the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday night. The Cowboys could possibly pull an upset since they have the better personnel against the restocked NY Giants.
