2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series:Subway Fresh Fit 500February 26, 2013 by Marc Jerbs

The 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series opened last weekend in grand style. Danica Patrick became the first woman to start at pole position in NASCAR's history but it was 5-time champion Jimmie Johnson who took home his 2nd career Daytona title.

The 2nd race of the season shifts to Phoenix International Raceway for the Subway Fresh Fit 500. Female driver Danica Patrick earned a lot of respect from her peers as she emerged unscathed from numerous crashes during the Daytona race. She showed to her fellow competitors that she is a tough woman that does not crack under extreme pressure during the race.

Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. showed the rest of the NASCAR field that both of them are the drivers to look out for this season. It was a vintage win for Jimmie Johnson and it was a superb 2nd place finish for Dale Earnhardt Jr. at Daytona 500.

Teammates Johnson and Earnhardt Jr. placed first and second in the overall driver's standings. They were followed by Mark Martin, Brad Keselowski, Ryan Newman, Greg Bifle, Danica Patrick, Michael McDowell, J.J. Yeley and Clint Bowyer.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed Jimmie Johnson as the favorite to win this season's NASCAR Sprint Cup title. Defending champion Brad Keselowski, Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch are his main competitors for the Sprint Cup title.
