2013 NFL Postseason:Super Bowl XLVIIJanuary 30, 2013 by Marc Jerbs

On February 3, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana will host the Super Bowl XLVII. The NFC champion San Francisco 49ers will face the AFC champion Baltimore Ravens at 6:30PM ET for the right to hoist the Super Bowl XLVII trophy.

The San Francisco 49ers continued its resurgence towards the playoffs by beating the Green Bay Packers in the divisional playoffs and won the NFC title against the Atlanta Falcons. The 49ers' win earned them another Super Bowl trip after 18 years.

San Francisco performed very well in the postseason due to three important factors. QB Colin Kaepernick is a tough nut to crack. He performed extremely well under intense pressure. RB Frank Gore does his damage by delivering the goods on his well-oiled ground game. The 49ers have a resilient defensive team that puts a lot of pressure on their opponents.

The Baltimore Ravens persevered on every postseason game that they played on the road. They won over the Colts in the wild card weekend, won a shootout against the Broncos in the divisional playoffs and stopped the mystics of the Patriots in the AFC championship.

Baltimore still brings their dreaded defensive game. They have missing defensive players due to injuries but the Ravens know how to step up when the game is on the line. QB Joe Flacco has blossomed into a top caliber quarterback during the postseason. The last time these two teams met was in 2011, the Ravens beat the 49ers, 16-6.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed the San Francisco 49ers as a 3.5-point favorite to beat the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night.
