2013 World Series (Game One):St. Louis Cardinals vs. Boston Red SoxOctober 22, 2013 by Marc Jerbs

On Wednesday, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox will meet in Game 1 of the 2013 World Series. The Red Sox holds the homefield advantage by virtue of the American League's win over the National League in this year's All-Star Game.

The fabled Fenway Park will host Games 1 and 2 of the series then it will move to St. Louis for Games 3 to 5. The first pitch on Wednesday will be thrown at 7:30PM ET.

These two teams have last met in the 2004 World Series and it was the Red Sox who emerged as the champion after they swept the Cardinals in 4 games. The storyline for the 2013 World Series would focus if the Red Sox could repeat their win in 2004 or it would be payback time for the Cardinals.

The Red Sox will send Jon Lester on the mound for Game 1. The Cardinals will counter with Adam Wainwright. Both teams have excellent hitters and also boast a consistent bullpen support.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed the Boston Red Sox as a 1.5-point favorite to win over the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 1 of the 2013 World Series.
