2016 MLB Season:New York Yankees vs.
Tampa Bay RaysSeptember 20, 2016 by Marc Jerbs

On Tuesday, the Tampa Bay Rays will host the New York Yankees in a three-game series at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The first pitch is set at 7:10AM ET.

The New York Yankees are still in postseason contention after dropping four games on the road against the Boston Red Sox. They have lost seven of their last eight games and must regroup with 13 games to play left on their schedule.

The Tampa Bay Rays have long been out of playoff contention but have been the thorn for teams in the AL East who are playing to qualify in the playoffs and wild card berth. Tampa has won two of three games against Toronto and split a four-game series with Baltimore. The Rays road wins against the two baseball club has temporarily derailed their advancement in the postseason.

New York may be the third team in the AL East that may have a hard time against the Tampa. Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda will pitch for the Yankees. However, he is 0-3 against Tampa this season with 9.31 ERA. Tampa's hitter has peppered him with 31 hits which includes eight home runs.

The Rays will put left-hander Drew Smyly on the mound. He has two wins against New York with 2.08 ERA. He's given up only two runs in 13 innings against the New York this season. The Yankees must solve the Drew Smyly puzzle in order for them to stop their losing streak.

The baseball handicappers have installed the Tampa Bay Rays as the favorite to win the first game of the three-game series against the New York Yankees on Tuesday night.
