PGA Tour:2012 US OpenJune 13, 2012 by Marc Jerbs

On Thursday, the Olympic Club in San Francisco, California will host the 112th US Open. The US Open is the 2nd major golf championship this season scheduled on the PGA Tour.

The Olympic Club's first six holes will be a daunting task for each golfer since each hole has a very long yardage compared to other golf courses. The first hole's 520-yard par-4 will greet every golfer every round until Sunday.

For the first round, the media and fans will witness the pairing of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Master's champion Bubba Watson. Both Tiger and Phil have been paired before in major tournaments. It will be baptism of fire for Watson when he plays with the veterans Woods and Mickelson.

In the afternoon, it would be the troika of Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood. This pairing will feature the Top 3 players in the world. Defending US Open champion Rory McIlroy will have his hands full against his European Ryder Cup teammates.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed Tiger Woods as the favorite to win the US Open and 15th major title. Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickleson are his main challengers for the US Open title.
